most of the video footage I've seen of Don Rich playing his silver sparkle Tele shows it clearly as an all maple affair. Rosewood seems to be the right feature based on what Fender was doing in the mid-60's. One of those pics resides on the MySpace tribute page to Don Rich. I've seen a couple pics of that guitar with a rosewood board. So.ĭon Rich apparently played an all-stock (except for finish) Fender Telecaster of `66 or `67 vintage. It's got everything to do with building a "tribute guitar" to Don Rich's silver sparkle Tele!! I told him I knew just the people to ask to clear up a couple details he'd been pondering over. I'm hoping someone can share some insight to help inform a build that a friend of mine is planning to get under way this winter.
